Simple and Easy Knot Bun Hair Tutorial for Medium to Long Hair

Hello!

Here’s how to do a simple bun with your hair.  This is an easy updo for your hair when you have very little time, or when your hair is not cooperating.  I put my hair up in this bun when I want my hair to have a casual messy look that takes no time at all. 🙂

This look is also very gentle on your hair~ no teasing, no need for styling products of any kind!

All you need for this look are bobby pins! (You could also use hairspray if you want though)

Did this work for your hair?  Would you like more hair tutorials from me?  Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

And yes, as I mention in the video, many of these products are the only product in their category that I use!  I didn’t realize how true this was until I watched this video 🙂

I’m probably not going to post all of my youtube videos on my blog since some ideas I’m thinking about doing are maybe more youtubeland than my blog.  However, if any of you would like to see them, you can either go to my youtube channel www.youtube.com/sunnymothernature, or if you would prefer me just posting them on this blog too, let me know!  🙂

(I’m still using my laptop to record, so I know the quality isn’t the best.)

FTC: I bought all of the products mentioned in this video myself, except for this round of honey which was a Christmas present from my sister and brother-in-law, and this round of the Dr. Bronner products were Christmas presents from my parents 🙂  I do typically buy my products either in kits, or when there are sales, to save money though.  Also, I am not affiliated with any of these companies, nor was I contacted by any of them.  I just love all of these products and wanted to share them with you!

NUDE Skincare Cleansing Facial Oil

Sunny Mother Nature likes using NUDE Skincare’s Cleansing Facial Oil.

Cleansing Facial Oil

For the past 6 months I have been trying to get away from using foaming facial cleansers, especially ones made for oily skin.  I have thought for years that I have an oily skin type.  Yet, what do I find out when I switched to non-foaming cleansers-this is not the case!  I actually have combination to normal skin.  Imagine that!  (By using cleansers for oily skin, my skin would get really dry because the cleansers were trying to get rid of the excess oil.  Yet, this then made my face even more oily because my face was trying to make up for the oil lost to the cleanser.  When I stopped stripping my face of the oil, that’s when my face started to stop producing as much oil as it used to and my face then went to combination/normal skin)

However, for me, switching to just non-foaming cleansers wasn’t enough.  I wanted to start using a natural non-foaming cleanser (or at least one with very little foaming).

I was looking on Sephora (www.sephora.com) to see if they had any under their Natural Seal that appealed to me.  NUDE Skincare’s Cleansing Facial Oil was the one that popped out at me.

It states on the back of the bottle that “This remarkable cleanser effectively removes even the most stubborn make-up.  The beautiful non-irritating natural oil protects and leaves skin smooth, supple and perfectly soft.  Warm between hands and massage onto dry face.  Apply warm water to form a light milk and rinse clean.  For normal to dry skin.”  (Although, on the box it says “For all skin types.”)  It is $36 for 3.4 oz from either www.sephora.com, or www.nudeskincare.com.

Also, this product does not have parabens, sulphates, PEGs, TEA, DEA, propylene glycol, phthalates, GMO, mineral oil, or silicones.  So, NUDE Skincare is being nice to you and Mother Nature.  These ingredients are not being absorbed by your skin and they are not going down the pipes into our water supplies, or into our environment.

It’s ingredients are glycine soja (soybean) oil, polyglyceryl-4-oleate (vegetable oil), squalene (olive oil), tocopherol acetate (plant sources), natural fragrance (parfum), benzyl benzoate (essential oil), linalool (essential oil), eugenol (essential oil).

I did not notice until now that it does have “fragrance” as an ingredient.  So, here’s to hoping it does have only nice ingredients as part of “fragrance”.

On the NUDE Skincare site (www.nudeskincare.com), it even states “Now with an even smaller carbon footprint, this beautiful Cleansing Facial Oil is one of the most responsibly packaged beauty products on the market – with an entirely recyclable plastic bottle using 100% Post Consumer Regrind (PCR).”

So even it’s packaging is nicer to Mother Nature!

NUDE Skincare’s line is mostly made up of anti-aging products.  If you are interested, look at one of the websites for more information on those.  However, I like that this cleanser can be used by people who do not want anti-aging facial products  (it is not advertised as one of their anti-aging products).

I’ve been using this for a couple of months now and I do really like it.   However, at first I did add some water to my face and continue massaging it in a little more after first massaging it onto dry skin, but this ended up drying out my face.  So, I do not recommend doing that.

What I have found to work for me is to massage this on dry skin and then add water to my hands and just rinse it off.  This way, my skin does stay at a nice moisture level.  This cleanser did get rid of all my make-up too without being really harsh on my face.

Will I be buying this again?  Definitely. (although there is another cleansing oil that has grabbed my attention that I want to try too…)

So, if you want to be nicer to your skin and to Mother Nature, try NUDE Skincare’s Cleansing Facial Oil.  With Sephora, if you buy something and do not like it, you can return it for free.  However, there are also many other cleansing oils out there to try.  Just please, for your health and Mother Nature’s, always look to see if the cleanser is good for you and Mother Nature. Either way, Mother Nature will always appreciate any love you show towards her.

Please Note-I am not affiliated with NUDE Skincare, or with Sephora, and neither company gave me this product to try.  I bought this product myself from www.sephora.com.  It appears that Sephora will constantly have their “free returns” policy.  However, this could change sometime in the future after I have written this post.  Also, even though this product works for me, that does not mean that this product will definitely work for you.

Sunny Mother Nature Loves Castile Liquid Soap

Sunny Mother Nature loves using castile liquid soap as laundry detergent!

Laundry is always going to be part of all of our lives and we will always be using some type of laundry detergent to help clean our clothes.  So, why not help Mother Nature while doing your laundry?

Castile liquid soap makes an amazing laundry detergent.  I have been using this instead of normal laundry detergent for a couple of months now, and I find that there is no difference between using castile soap and Tide, All, etc. laundry detergent.

So, why use castile soap instead of normal laundry detergent?  It’s simple!

Castile liquid soap is biodegradable.  That means better for the environment.  And although many regular laundry detergents say they are biodegradable too, there’s a difference-normal laundry detergents still only separate into their chemical, toxic ingredients.  So, it does not mean that they later become “safer” for the environment, or that they will be “safe” for the environment once they separate.

It also has better ingredients compared to normal laundry detergents.  Most liquid castile soaps are primarily made from olive oil.  For example, I use Bramble Berry, Inc. (www.brambleberry.com) Natural Castile Liquid Soap Base as my detergent, and the ingredients are only Water, Potassium Olivate, and Glycerin.  But any castile liquid soap would work.

Not only that, but castile liquid soap can be used for many things other than just as laundry detergent.  It can be used as a hand soap, as a household cleaner for your kitchen, bathroom, etc., as shampoo and much more.

There is also no fragrance added to it.  Often times, the fragrance that is added to your laundry detergent can be toxic.  The laundry detergent companies (along with all other companies at this time) are not required by the FDA to list the ingredients they place in as “fragrance” or “perfume.”  So consumers have no idea what those ingredients are.  And it’s not just one ingredient.  It could be hundreds, or more, that are not listed because they are considered part of “fragrance.” If you would have an allergic reaction to one of these many ingredients, you would never know which one it actually is you had the reaction to.  (If you want to add a scent to your castile liquid soap, use essential oils-but always research how much you should use because they are often bought at 100% pure- meaning they are at their strongest level.  So, you are the one who is supposed to dilute them.  You can also buy already scented castile liquid soap.  Just look at the ingredients to see if they are all good ingredients)

It is also about the same price as regular laundry detergent.  So, you will not be paying tons more money for more environmentally friendly laundry detergent.  Also, I use the same amount of castile liquid soap as I would for regular laundry detergent (although you could possibly use even less than that-experiment!).

Castile liquid soap is even one of the oldest types of soap used.  And it has only been since the introduction and popular use of synthetic detergents that there are now so many environmental problems resulting from it.

So, go green an easy way!  Use castile liquid soap as your laundry detergent.  Mother Nature will love you for it.

Please Note- I am not affiliated with Bramble Berry, Inc. and they did not give me any of their products to try.  My sister decided to try some of their products and bought some castile liquid soap for me to try along with her.

Sunny Mother Nature Says Use Handkerchiefs

Sunny Mother Nature says if you want to help save the world, use a handkerchief!

When I think of a handkerchief, I think of the 1700s, 1800s, etc. back when handkerchiefs were given to someone to show fondness towards a specific person.  I imagine a heroine from one of Jane Austen’s books either receiving, or giving away a handkerchief as a token of their affection.

Now, I don’t think too many people would appreciate getting a handkerchief anymore as a token of someone’s affection, but it still could help you attain Mother Nature’s affections.

Kleenex, tissues- whatever you want to call them, use up a lot of trees to make them.  And are they able to be used more than once?  No.  They have just become part of our throw-away society.  Now, if you are sick with a cold, etc. don’t feel like you have to use a handkerchief-you would end up needing twenty+ handkerchiefs per day!  And how many people even have two handkerchiefs anymore?  The more practical thing would be to just use a handkerchief whenever you sneeze, or need to blow your nose on any regular day.  Then, just throw it in with any load of laundry to clean!

So, how can you help save Mother Nature just with one change?  Use a handkerchief! Mother Nature will throw her affections towards you if you do.

Sunny Mother Nature Says Ban “Should”

Sunny Mother Nature says to ban “should” from everyone’s vocabulary, and to demote “would,”  “must,” and “have”!!

Why?  Because, they lead to negative thinking!  Think about it-when anyone uses any of those words, how many times are they really used in a good way?

“I should go do this.”

“I should’ve done that.”

“I would’ve done it that way.”

“People should’ve treated me this way.”

“People just have to treat me well.”

“I must do well.”

“He must treat me nicely.”

Now “would” and “have” can be used in good ways too, but “should”  really needs to become banned!

This idea is part of a Psychology Therapy called Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (aka REBT).  REBT has three main thoughts it focuses on:

1) I MUST perform well and win approval

2) others HAVE to treat me well, nicely, etc.

3) my life SHOULD not be frustrating

All three of these thoughts are irrational and self-defeating.  Does it help you, or anyone else to think this way?  The answer is no.

These irrational thoughts can be stopped just by rational examination and taking a broader look at our thoughts.

For example 1), we are all going to make mistakes and no one is perfect, nor is everyone going to like you.

For example 2), no one HAS to treat any one else well.  It would be nice if people did always treat each other well and nicely, but that sadly is not always the case.

For example 3), life is always going to have its frustrations and disappointments.  That is part of life.  We just can hope that we are able to cope and accept whatever comes our way.

If you decide to get rid of just one word from your vocabulary, please ban “should”!  You’ll be surprised to see how often you go to use that word and then stop before you say it.  Then you realize that what you were going to say was negative.  I have been completely surprised by how many times I’ve been caught by “should”.

This, in turn, will then lead to less negative thinking about your life, others, etc., and could even lead to being happier.

And Mother Nature will be happy to hear that others are leading happier lives just by banning a word from their vocabulary, and not by material things.

(All my information about REBT is from my Psychology of Adjustment class.  If you want more information on my resource, please let me know.)

Sunny Mother Nature Says Resist!

Sunny Mother Nature says to resist along with reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Everywhere I go I always seem bombarded by “The Three Rs”- reduce, reuse, and recycle. All three are excellent and will help lower humans’ impact on the Earth but I feel like a fourth R is in order- resist.

But while we are being constantly told to reduce, reuse, and recycle, we are also being bombarded to buy, buy, and buy more. We need to resist the need given not hourly, but minutely by ads, TV commercials, etc. to us to buy and spend more.

To resist spending is difficult. I have to constantly remind myself that I don’t need something and that I already have products to use up before I buy more.

Yet, if we follow resist along with the other three Rs, we will save money, have more room in our house, apartment, etc. (because we’re not stockpiling products), we won’t be wasting products or money, and Mother Nature will feel a little sunnier.
